RCIA 2009-2010
September is just around the corner. It is time to start
thinking about those we know who have been thinking about
joining us in the practice of our Catholic faith. If you have
been thinking about it or you know someone who has, please call
me, Deacon Ron or the Parish Office, and I will contact you
about the RCIA Process. If you are someone who can’t meet
during the week, in the evening, I will conduct the program
during the day as well. I am also inviting any parish member
who would like to refresh their knowledge of our faith to join
us. Things have changed and new issues face us as Catholics. We
have already had seven people sign up for the process and we
have room for lots more. Enjoy the rest of the summer and I hope
to hear from you soon. God Bless – Deacon Ron.
Do You Want to Become A Catholic?
R.C.I.A. - Rite
of Christian Initiation of Adults - is a process for those
adults interested in learning more about the Catholic Faith in
order to receive the sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation, and
Eucharist.
This process is
for all men and women who are not baptized, or baptized in
another Christian church but in need of further instruction and
initiation, or those baptized in the Catholic church but needing
more instruction to complete the sacraments of Initiation.
Persons never baptized are referred to as Catechumens, while
those previously baptized are called Candidates.
Seven Reasons To Join R.C.I.A.
(Why
seven?
Seven
is
a
Holy
number
in
the
Old
Testament.)
1. You’re
marrying a Catholic. (Sharing and practicing your faith
together is a great foundation to marriage.)
2. You’re
already married to a Catholic and your kids are being raised
Catholic. (It’s natural to want to share in the sacramental
experiences of your loved one’s.)
3. You’re
children are being raised Catholic and you just want to learn
more about the tradition without actually becoming Catholic.
(Please join us but you might be surprised at what happens!)
4. You’ve lived
in a “Catholic World” all your life. (This program is for
people of all ages. Every year someone joins us whom everyone
in the Parish assumed was already Catholic!)
5. You don’t
know much about Catholicism but you have a friend or neighbor
who has inspired you to learn more. (Actions speak louder than
words.)
6. You’ve
suffered through a personal loss and are seeking to improve your
faith life. (“Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be
comforted.”)
7. You don’t
know why, you just feel something calling you to church. (It’s
the Holy Spirit...listen to it.)
It is important
that I have time to meet the persons interested in the process
before we begin in September. If you have any questions please
give Deacon Ron Rowe a call at 235-1812 or submit their names.
