These past weeks
the focus has been in the truth, the gift of the Bread of Life,
shared with us in the Eucharistic celebrations. We need these
weeks to help us to understand and appreciate and celebrate with
our faith community each week at the liturgy. We miss out when
we take the invitation lightly and allow our busy life to take
over.
The first
reading from Wisdom continues the emphasis on food on the gift
of God’s gift of himself in the Eucharist. Wisdom, tells us
that all are welcome to come to be refreshed by the gift of
life.
The letter from
Ephesians we hear the call to be open to God’s action in our
lives and our world. When we come to celebrate the liturgy each
week we are sustained and made ready to go forth in praise,
love, and hope for ourselves and our community.
The gospel
challenges us not just to partake of the bread but it must allow
us by our actions and concern to live the life of Jesus in our
daily lives. The sacraments that we share is only complete when
our lives are made one with Jesus’ self-offering to extend and
make visible Jesus in our daily lives.
Let us this week
as individuals, families, and community. Reflect and make new
our response to the call each week’s celebration of God’s saving
action in our lives.
